A big day overnight for Joe Root as the youngster scored his maiden test century at his home ground in Leeds. The man who finally got his wicket? Trent Boult, with his first delivery with the new ball in the last session.

Boulty ended up snaffling 3 late wickets in just 13 balls, England 337/7 at stumps. Listen to Thunder talking about the day two action at Headingley here:

Damp news from Leeds. The Blackcaps’ comms manager reports that the covers are on at Headingley, it’s raining & it’s unlikely play will start on time. Rain & a high of 10 degrees forecast!

Meanwhile the Blackcaps’ one-day players not involved in the test are playing a “warm-up” in 7 degrees at the Finedon Dolben club in Northamptonshire…
